Blue Velvet Jazz

We're a Sydney Jazz Band specialising in Cool Jazz and Classics

Our performances have been at venues including Kirribilli House, the Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney Museum, Sydney Opera House, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney Sheraton On The Park, Sydney Hilton Hotel, corporate functions, events,  weddings, birthday celebrations and cocktail parties.

Cool jazz is a specialty of ours – the kind of Jazz that creates a sophisticated and delightful atmosphere.

The Great Gatsby and other 1920s themed events are popular at the moment! We’ve added lots of brilliant songs from that era. Requests are welcome!

Fabulous, Jazz-themed events and parties

Well hello 2024! Here at Blue Velvet Jazz we’re  looking forward a new Jazz year.

2023 brought us some fabulous events, one favourite was a 30th birthday party with a very cool 1920’s Jazz theme – embracing the big 3-0 by saying goodbye with the 20’s.

Everyone looked amazing and we enjoyed every minute. Here is what they said:

Hi Michael,

I just wanted to say a big thank you for the amazing performance for my fiance’s 30th birthday. You played beautifully, created a suave atmosphere and and a number of guests had contacted afterwards to say how incredible you were.

It was you guys who really made the ‘goodbye to the roaring 20s’ theme! Everyone loved music and was dancing by the end of the night! Thank you again, so so pleased to have found you and join us to make the night extra special.

Warm regards,
Steph

“We can’t thank you and your team enough for the most incredible night on Saturday. You were all fabulous. We just so appreciated your professionalism, communication, attire and incredible talent. The music was exactly what we had hoped for and even better that what we listened to on your website. You gave us so much more than what we expected. We have had so many positive compliments from our friends, the only regret being that we only had you playing for 4 hours!! Wish the evening could have been longer.”

Marrickville celebration with a Jazz trio

We were very happy to be be part of the tribute to the late historian Chrys Meader on Friday night, at the event naming the Marrickville Library auditorium in her name.

The PM Anthony Albanese joined local staff, and Chrys’ family, close friends and former colleagues to celebrate her historical knowledge and connection to the Marrickville community.

We played for an absolutely beautiful wedding at Quay Restaurant – on the night of THAT MOON. Perfectly positioned at just the right time for a photograph. 📸🌕

#iphone11 – I know, so retro. Don’t look too closely at those crunchy pixels, but my goodness, our wonderful clients take us to the absolute BEST venues throughout Sydney.
